Downtown Shangri La was Blue Cartoon's sophomore album, and was released 1999 only as a CD. Downtown Shangri La shows the band moving from a Roots Rock/Power Pop sound to a more heavily British Invasion inspired Power Pop. -- As with the band's self-titled debut release, our music was once again critically acclaimed by a bevy of reviewers. The band played assorted live shows in Texas, and was invited to play in a variety of IPO (International Pop Overthrow) Festivals in other parts of the U.S. that were organized and hosted by Power Pop enthusiast David Bash.
